CHRISTMAS PARTY-NKWANTA SOUTH MUNICIPALITY Date

Nneka hosted over 1,500 youth in the Nkwanta South Municipality on the 26th of December,2019. The concept of the Christmas party emanates from the need to connect with beneficiaries, touch base, and ensure the feel of the warmth of the Christmas gathering. This year children from the Nkwanta Municipality enjoyed some great food, music, games and walked away with great Christmas presents such as clothes, footwear, books, and other learning materials donated by individuals and organizations. It was a fun-filled day.

GEORGINA’S EYE SURGERY Date

17-year-old Georgina Ackah, a needy child from a less privileged community in the Afadjato South district damaged her left cornea and needed an urgent cornea transplant. An amount of Ghc 8,000 out of a total bill of Ghc 24,000 was raised through cash donations and the surgery was performed successfully on August 29th, 2018. Georgina is fully recovering and hopes to return to school to write her Senior High School Certificate Examination. Nneka Youth Foundation however has an overdue debt of Ghc 16,000 to be paid to Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital. We are still appealing to kind hearts and organizations to help us fulfill this obligation.

VOCATIONAL ENTREPRENEURIAL PATHWAY (TRAIN THE TRAINER) Date

100 teen mothers in the Afadjato South district were given skills and entrepreneurial training in bead making and production, beads designing, soap production, cassava flour production and processing into pastries and batik/tie and dye designing. Skilled trainers were engaged to ensure proper training, facilitation, management and overall success of the program. 28 of the participants were supported with seed capital for start up. This project was made possible with funding from Global Travel and learning fund through Ford foundation.
